This IS a thought provoker!

From Italy (on a card that reminds me to relax!) comes this intriguing question:

How would you explain to a blind person what colours are?

The best course I can think of is to draw an analogy to taste or texture. This one really does have me thinking hard!

Unanswerable question?

From the Bahamas:

Would you rather be blind or deaf?

First of all, the question assumes I am not... blind or deaf or both.

Second, as a fully sighted, hearing individual, I can't really imagine those alternate states.

Third, BEING blind or BEING deaf are very different situations than BECOMING blind or BECOMING DEAF.

In the end, I am sure I cannot choose.

If you were blind and deaf, would you want to live?

The writer goes on to ask:

Should we let a blind and deaf person live or wouldn't it be more merciful to let them sleep forever so they can start a new life?

Well, in my opinion, those are two entirely different questions. What I might do - for myself - is one thing. What I would do - for someone else - another thing altogether.
