I'm a member of Post Crossing, the internet site for postcard exchange. I sent a card to another Post Crosser, Ilona from Germany. She asked that people tell her which magical power they would like to have. Her question really made me think!

In turn, I thought it would be an interesting project to ask people to pose Thought-Provoking Questions. I would do my best to answer with my opinion, and I would encourage others to add theirs.

And, so was born this blog! I hope that it will be the home for many interesting conversations in the year ahead!

It's all about us, right?

Grethe asks, on behalf of the future occupants of Earth:

How come we, in the so-called industrial world, are so unwilling to lower our demands for unnecessary and luxury goods, even though we know that we cannot continue to consume as we do now if coming generations shall have an inhabitable Earth to inherit?

My thought is that many of us do not realize the impact of our individual actions. We believe that what we want isn't so much. It's the "other guy" who is greedy.

So long ago

The card from Belgium wasn't that long ago, really, but in light of current developments, it seems so. Justine wonders

What do you think of the oil spill in the Gulf? Do you think the President took the right decision to end it?

For people living in the Gulf states, I am sure it is as real now as it was then. On the world's stage, however, it seems so long ago.
