Elisabeth from Austria asks a question that is linked (at least in my mind) to the card from yesterday.

Why do people from so-called "poor countries" often seem so happy when many of them literally have nothing?

My first question in response to the question (you should never answer a question with a question, I know!) is "Are they really happy or do they only SEEM that way?"

My next thought is "What does happy really mean, anyway?"

What would you like to experience most in life?

For me? That the people I care about have contentment and happiness in their lives.

Not WHAT, but WHY?

Narelle, from a small country town in Australia, asks us to ponder this question:

Why is your definition of true happiness different from other people's definitions of true happiness?

I think it's interesting that she goes beyond the "easy" question concerning WHAT a definition of true happiness is to the "deeper" question concerning the differences between people's perspectives.

I, myself, have never understood why some people appear to be happy when they are scared (after watching a horror movie, for instance).

Colorburst!

From Japan comes this wonderful question (and lovely handmade postcard):

If you describe feelings by colour, what colour(s) is the moment of happiness to you? the moment of joy to you? and why?

Oooooh, how I like this question! I experience a small degree of synesthesia, which is basically a way of perceiving one sense through another. So, for me, for example, the deep blue sky of the western horizon at twilight "smells" like cinnamon. Every time I see that color, it's as if someone snapped a cinnamon stick in half near me. Mmmmmmmm.

Now, I shall consider what color joy might be.
